Guess who is the new kid on the block to watch out for, a young and talented Shawn Mendes. Last week, Shawn Mendes’ debut album, Handwritten, reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The 16-year-old subsequently became the youngest artist to top the chart in five years and proved he’s truly an Artist to Watch.
Hot on the heels of his big debut, Shawn stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to perform his latest single, “Stitches.” Shawn gave the danceable breakup song a slowed-down, acoustic treatment, reminding us he needs nothing more than his guitar to whip up some truly magical music.
Performing in front of a backdrop showing a handwritten letter (a common theme throughout his music video series), and surrounded by throngs of fans, Shawn smiled his way through the whole song. Which is good, because hearing him sing about needing stitches honestly makes our hearts shatter every single time. Anyone else? Just us? OK, cool.
